Land Administration Services

Lands Protection in the Department of Culture and Lands Protection is the lead department in the implementation of the Tłı̨chǫ Wenek’e: Tłı̨chǫ Land Use Plan. Lands Protection staff assist the Chiefs Executive Council in its role and requirements under Tłı̨chǫ Wenek’e. The Department of Culture and Lands Protection will receive and process applications for use of Tłı̨chǫ lands as well as liaise with applicants and the Tłı̨chǫ public on issues relating to the land use plan and its implementation, including the processing of requests and applications. Generally Lands Protection is responsible for the administration of Tłı̨chǫ lands, including the administration of “dispositions” of Tłı̨chǫ land under the Tłı̨chǫ Lands Protection Law made before May 31, 2013, and for the orderly consideration, negotiation and administration of any tenure instruments (leases, permits, licenses, access agreements, etc.)
