Children in Times of Change Project with the Canadian Arctic Resources Committee (CARC)
The Arctic region has experienced incredible change in the past decade. The settlement of land claims and the push to identify and exploit the North’s considerable resources have raised important questions about the impact of these – and other social, economic, and environmental – developments on northern peoples. Working with the Tlicho Government, the Canadian Arctic Resources Committee’s project team proposes to develop an indicator report series that will document and assess the well-being of northern children and youth. The goal of the Children in Times of Change project is to conduct a robust socio-economic assessment by asking the critical question: how are northern children and youth faring? Children in Times of Change will not only serve as an important and unique source of information, but will also be designed to engage young people – and others – in its development, dissemination, and use as a community resource and advocacy tool.
