Dedats’eetsaa promotes the development and use of Indigenous research design and appropriate community-based methodologies. A growing body of work supports the use of Indigenous research methodologies in Indigenous communities as more respectful, appropriate and effective than traditional Western research methods. Methods that have been used with success in the Tłı̨chǫ region include narrative and participatory action research.
Dedats’eetsaa’s partner institute, Hotıì ts’eeda, is available to consult with researchers on their research designs and offer advice on making methodologies more appropriate and effective for Indigenous communities. Hotıì ts’eeda is also developing an in-depth resource on Indigenous Research Methodologies and Evaluation with the support of the Tłı̨chǫ Government.
